The Lens nursery in Belgium seems to bud a lot of varieties on Rubiginosa as Pierre Lauwers told me. Some years ago I got a Lens-Captain Christy as a gift of him and it´s one of my best growing roses (actually larger and higher than the climbing version:s06:). When Jürgen and Mr. Weingart saw it they tried to bud weaker growing HPs on Rubiginosa also. Mr. Weingart used it for some HPs and was very happy with the result but told me that he will not use it usually because of the many big Rubiginosa thorns.

My experience is that many HPs (especially red ones) grow better own rooted. If you plant them deeper into the ground (but be careful concerning too wet and heavy soils!) they get own rooted within a few years.

Baronne Adolphe de Rothschild reached about 3 meters before I cutted her back and moved her to the Park:s22:

The first photo and the old illustration are looking like the Comtesse which I once admired at Sangerhausen. The specimen I ordered was none but Mme Boll so I don´t have any experiences with the real CCdC. hould try to find another source for ordering it in autumn.

Germany is a heaven for roses. You have the most impressive nurseries and collections and it seams that every hybrid perpetual still in existence is available. I am so looking forward to read up on what's happening at the Lost Beauties Rose Park.
I think you´r very right - it always seems to me, that here in Austria we don´t habe so many different roses to buy like our friends in Germany.:s07:
I also have many roses from Germany.
I hope, somebody can answer your question! They all are specialists in roses....:s12::s12:
